How procedures are listed

Legal basis
  • National Health Insurance Act Enforcement Rule on Criteria for Insured Benefits, Articles 9-2 through 14
  • Criteria for Determination and Adjustment of Procedures, Therapeutic Materials, etc.
Applicants
  • Healthcare institutions
  • Medical and pharmaceutical associations
When to apply
  • Within 30 days from the date the technology is first used after public notification of new health technology assessment results
  • The date the technology is first used after public notification of new health technology assessment results
  • Within 30 days from the date you are notified as an existing technology in the benefit coverage / non-covered status (existing technology) confirmation
Outcomes

Notice of results by the HIRA President

If the benefit coverage / non-covered status (existing technology) confirmation identifies the technology as an existing technology: use existing covered / non-covered codes

Ministry of Health and Welfare public notification

  • If identified as an existing technology: use existing covered / non-covered codes
  • Non-covered: non-covered code
  • Selective benefit: insurance code / relative value score / patient copayment rate
